Next to the design of your kitchen, the two things that arguably have the most impact on how your kitchen will look and feel are your cabinets and your countertops. Those two elements work together to set the tone for the whole kitchen. So what should you look for when choosing your materials?
One thing to keep in mind is that in most homes today the kitchen is not a walled-off entity of its own. Most floor plan designs today (including the ones you’ll find at Country Classics in Hillsborough and Fox Brook in Montgomery) feature open kitchen designs that mean whatever you choose for finish materials in your kitchen will also be visible from at least one or two other rooms in your home. So while you may want your kitchen to have its own identity, remember that it needs to look like it belongs to the rest of the home.
It’s also important that your countertops and your cabinet materials work together visually. You can fall in love with a countertop pattern you see and then find a cabinet finish that you like as well—only to find that when you put them together they clash. That’s why it’s so important to see your countertop materials next one another.
What’s great is that you have lots of choices. When you’re looking for countertops you can choose from a variety of textures, colors, and styles, including natural stone, quartz, butcher block, or even stainless steel. Choosing the one that’s right for you will depend not only on looks but also on durability and ease of maintenance. How can you evaluate?

Sometimes, however, simply reading descriptions about materials doesn’t answer all your questions. That’s when it’s nice to take the information you have and actually see samples side-by-side. Our design team can walk you through the process step by step on your journey toward creating your perfect Country Classics home.
