Are you feeling a little overwhelmed these days? Many people feel the same way. In fact, keeping up with the latest information about the COVID-19 pandemic is almost a full-time job in itself. Hopefully, our guide to COVID-19 resources will make it a little easier to get through this health crisis.
The Township website provides a daily update on confirmed coronavirus cases and deaths. You’ll also find information on local testing sites and closures. Do you have a few questions about COVID-19 and the township’s plans? Call (908) 429-8444 or send an email to Coronavirus@BridgewaterNJ.gov.
It may seem as if stores, restaurants and services are all closed, but that’s not the case. Although some businesses have had to shut down temporarily, others have temporarily changed their hours or taken steps to promote social distancing.
You may not be able to dine at your favorite restaurant, but you can still enjoy a meal from a local eatery. Take-out and delivery orders are available from many restaurants, even those that didn’t offer those services previously.
Bridgewater Township officials compiled a list of businesses still open during the pandemic for your convenience. Many of the businesses included on the Township list are offering special deals during the pandemic. Alan’s Tree Services and Deck Service both offer 20 percent off regular pricing. Kika’s Deli takes 10 percent off for health workers and first responders, while Soprano’s Pizzeria offers a free slice of cheese pizza for students in Bridgewater/Somerville schools Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Check the website for details on all of the deals.
You’ll also find plenty of resources on the State of New Jersey’s website. The COVID-19 Information Hub provides information on applying for unemployment benefits, what to do if you’re having trouble paying your rent or mortgage, and how you can reduce your chances of contracting the virus.
The Hub answers many commonly asked questions about the crisis and provides information about social distancing guidelines, cleaning recommendations, COVID-19 scams, federal grants for businesses, blood donations, tax filing extensions, resources for disabled citizens and volunteer opportunities.
New Jersey offers several ways to get answers to your coronavirus questions. For general questions about the crisis, call 211. If you aren’t sure if you need treatment for your symptoms or don’t know what to do if you’ve been exposed to the virus, call 1-800-962-1253. You can also sign up to receive text alerts by texting NJCOVID to 898-211.
Keep up with latest New Jersey COVID-19 information by watching Governor Phil Murphy’s daily briefings on his YouTube channel. The governor also offers coronavirus information on Twitter and Facebook.
Learning at home has become the new normal for parents and children across the state. Although studying at home is definitely a little more challenging, the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District is committed to ensuring children continue to receive a quality education.
Through Google Classroom and Google Meet, students can access assignments and resources, submit assignments and contact teachers if they have questions. The school district’s “News and Events” page offers regular updates from School Superintendent Russell Lazovick.
Information about COVID-19 symptoms can be found on these sites: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Mayo Clinic and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset. Are you afraid that you might have the virus? The New Jersey COVID-19 Hub offers an automated coronavirus symptom checker.
You may not be able to visit the Somerset County Library, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of the library’s offerings. After you obtain a free digital library card from the website, you can borrow e-books, audiobooks and videos. The library also provides free access to Lynda.com, BrainHQ, Mango Languages, Creativebug, Gale Small Business Builder, Flipster digital magazines and other resources.
Local businesses that aren’t open may still offer virtual resources and information. Simply by turning on your laptop or digital device, you can check out potential locations for your next vacation or find a new Bridgewater apartment.
